Hermine Pinson is from Beaumont, Texas. Hermine Pinson is the Associate Professor at the College of William and Mary. She received her education at Fisk University (BA) then she continued on to get her M.A. at Southern Methodist University and finished with her Ph.D. at Rice University.  Pinson’s areas of specialization include Contemporary African Diaspora literature that consists of poetry, fiction and drama. As well as cultural studies, creative writing which includes poetry and fiction and lastly modern American literature. Hermine has published three poetry collections; Ashe (a chapbook), Mama Yetta and Other Poems and Dolores is Blue/ Dolorez is Blues. She published two CDs her first CD, Changing the Changes in Poetry & Song and her second Deliver Yourself. Her work has appeared in journals and anthologies. Hermine has multiple fellowships at Macdowell Colony, Yaddo, Soul Mountain, Byrdcliffe Colony, Vermont Studio Center and Norton Island. She is a part of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities.  She currently teaches creative writing as well as African American literature at William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia.
